Harrow & Wealdstone Swimming Club
The Harrow Leisure
Centre is the Registered Headquarters of the Harrow & Wealdstone Swimming
Club. The Club caters for swimmers of
all ages and abilities from beginners to International standard and all the
categories in between. Swimming brings
fitness and enjoyment for life and it is the Clubs aim to help all members
achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
The Club is divided into three main sections:
Learn
to Swim
Competitive Squads
Masters
The Club encourages family involvement
and there are various fund raising and social activities throughout the
year. Club Championships are held for
the Competitive squads annually. Whatever
your goals or ambitions it is the Clubs hope that, together with our expertise
and your determination, we can achieve them. An Executive Committee who are
made up of volunteers, elected annually at the AGM runs the Club. The Executive Committee appoints the Head
Coach (Bill Stokes), Head Coach – Juniors (Gill Muir),
Club Administrator (Janine Nyman) and Welfare Officer (Paul Donlevey)
Learn to Swim
These classes take place at Harrow Leisure
Centre Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. They are 30 minutes long for the beginner
(aged 5 years and over) through to those wishing to improve their strokes to
join the competitive squads. There are
also 40-minute lessons for older swimmers on Wednesday evenings and adults on
Monday & Wednesday evenings.
Competitive Squads
Competitive Squads begin with those
moving up from the learn to swim through to those who are working towards
County / Southern
County and
National qualifying times. Training takes place at Harrow Leisure
Centre Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday mornings and every
weekday evening throughout the week.
Children are placed in Squads according to their age and ability. A condition of Squad membership is that, if
selected for a gala, you do your utmost to attend and are in full Club
kit. All Squad members are expected to
take part in the Club Championships held annually in September.
Masters
The Masters section is for
adults whose swimming is more advanced and requires swimming coaching rather
than teaching. There are various
competitions that Masters can take part in throughout the year.
Swim Shop
All items of swimwear can be obtained
through our Swim Shop. This is currently
only open on the balcony at the Leisure Centre on Monday and Wednesday 5.30 – 8.00 p.m and Saturday 7 - 10 a.m
Coaches / Teachers & Helpers
We are always looking for extra
help. If you are interested and would
